JAVIER

'Javier' [Capitol]    Genre: R&B

Javier - JavierWhen it comes to what makes good music, there are some who create it; allowing the listener to feel their passion and the depth they’ve put into it. The delivery counts just as much as the projection of the third chorus, and whether or not the bridge is intricately positioned all in the essence of music. Some artists deliver it with vocal impressions, lyrical organization, the song’s music production, and the mesh of the chemistry between the music itself and their personal style. Thankfully, Capitol recording artist, Javier is a new-comer who can undoubtedly stand front-line with likes of John Leged and Van Hunt. The self-titled debut release (August 5, 2003) is filled with an eclectic spread of classic jazz, Latin pulses, contemporary R&B, and even a hint of rock. The album’s single (and only official release) "Crazy," opens the door with a warming and moderate toned track about the craziness of being in love; as "Slow Motion" cosigns, serving as a follow-up to those feelings. "Song for Your Tears" (justly pieced by the great Larry Gold), is one of the many noteworthy additions - as the melancholy filling breathes along with Javier’s vocal projection. Similar to the sounds of Brian McKnight, "Biggest Mistake" is an easy listen, and generously steams the blues of possibly losing a loved one. "Interlude #1" offers a quick cadence, moving you into a subtle pour in "If I Never get to Heaven." Splicing another tone, "Can’t Have My Heart" and "She Spoke to Me" are clothed in suitable Latin colors. One of the most impressive songs given is "In Your Hands," an effortless acapella, reeling & making Javier’s talent evident. If you don’t know, every album should have what I call an “Easy-On-Sunday” track, and "She’ll Never Know," serves the cool-breeze, open-window vibe we’re all keen to (now you know). "Interlude No. 2" offers a rhythm on a different degree, leading you into "October Sky..." as thick as molasses, Roy Hargrove and Mulgrew Miller back, as you’re in receipt of a tranquil jazz piece practically made for Javier’s voice (with a nice closing). With hits of position 91 on Billboard’s Top 200 and position 18, on Billboard’s Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums lists, his first attempt with this substantial romance album, is an essence of music.
